Recent meetings brought together farmers, cooperatives, local elected officials, and representatives from agricultural institutions (ONCA and DPA) to discuss ongoing solidarity agriculture projects. A key focus was placed on integrating a gender approach to ensure fair participation of both farmers and rural women.
The primary goal was to identify the specific needs of farmers while addressing barriers to the participation of women and youth in agriculture, in the territorial communes Sekoura Lhadra, Sidi Mansour and Sidi Ghanem. Discussions centered on tackling exclusion, discrimination, and stereotypes faced by women, with the ultimate objective of creating opportunities for them and young people to earn a stable income through farming.
Participants shared their insights and suggestions, which helped assess the current situation in the targeted area. These discussions will guide the development of future projects, ensuring they contribute to the agricultural, social, and economic progress of the communes.
