Awareness workshops for women on Income-Generating Projects

Workshops were organized across several communes, including Sidi Ali Labrahla, Ait Hammou, Bouchane, Tizmarine, Ait Taleb, and Labrikyine. These sessions aim to inform rural women about the types of projects being planned, their design, and their impacts, with a particular focus on couscous production and Beldi chicken farming, to promote the efficient use of local resources and development at the Douar level.

These workshops provide rural women with essential technical skills, particularly in cooperative creation and management, food production, and poultry farming. They also cover aspects such as good agricultural practices, product transformation, and marketing, offering participants comprehensive training and empowerment in these sectors.

Challenges and needs identified were as follows:

  • There is a high rates of illiteracy among women.
  • Women lack technical agricultural training.
  • Women expressed interest in projects related to Beldi chicken farming and couscous valorization but face challenges in securing funding.
  • Participants called for simplified administrative procedures for cooperative creation.
  • Due to previous negative experiences with fraudulent associations, women have developed mistrust toward cooperatives.
  • Geographic isolation and cultural norms present additional barriers to women’s participation in these projects.
