Meeting with the DRA

A meeting between the 3G project and the DRA members took place on the November 15. It highlighted a number of challenges faced by cooperatives in the region. These included the lack of facilities, insufficient training in cooperative management, and the family-run nature of many cooperatives. There were also concerns about beneficiaries benefiting multiple times from the same financial support and people outside the Rhamna province benefiting from local project funds. Delays in construction and equipment procurement were also raised as potential obstacles to timely project completion.

To address these issues, solutions suggested included :

• Imposing specific conditions for each cooperative to ensure compliance and efficient use of funds.
• Establishing a database to track beneficiaries and avoid redundant funding.
•  Synchronising construction and equipment procurement to avoid delays, and validation cooperative with ONSSA before starting construction.
• Introducing a “blacklist” of  low-quality contractors .
• Provididng specialized training and setting selection criteria.
• Etc.
